" Mach es zu Deinem – Schweißen lernen und etwas Nützliches bauen"
In diesem praktischen Workshop lernst du die Grundlagen der Metallbearbeitung – speziell WIG-Schweißen, den Umgang mit dem Winkelschleifer und wie du Stahl von Hand biegst und formst. Wir arbeiten mit recyceltem Metallschrott und erschaffen kleine, funktionale Gegenstände für deinen Alltag – wie einen Ring oder Clip, der dir beim Tragen von Sachen hilft. Stell dir vor: ein persönliches Werkzeug, das du an Gürtel, Tasche oder Rucksack befestigen kannst, um Schlüssel, Werkzeuge oder andere Gegenstände unterwegs zu halten. Am Ende des Workshops hat jede/r Teilnehmer:in ein eigenes, einzigartiges und nützliches Stück geschaffen – und dabei praktische Fertigkeiten im Umgang mit Metall erworben. Keine Vorerfahrung nötig – nur Neugier und die Bereitschaft, etwas Neues auszuprobieren!
Der Workshop wird in englischer Sprache durchgeführt.

Während des Workshops werden Fotos zur Projektdokumentation gemacht. Wir benötigen gute Bilder, insbesondere für unsere Förderinstitutionen, die unsere Tätigkeiten zeigen. Sie helfen uns damit, auch in Zukunft weitere Projekte anbieten zu können. Wir können vor Ort klären, welche Art von Bildern möglich wären.
Garderobe & Wertsachen
Schutz- und Arbeitskleidung tragen!
Wir empfehlen das Tragen von festem Schuhwerk.
Wir empfehlen polyesterfreie, im besten Falle 100 %ige robuste Baumwollkleidungen zu tragen.
Teilnehmer:innen die leicht brennbare, v.a. Kleidung aus Kunstfasern tragen, werden an dem Workshop nicht teilnehmen können!
Falls Du einen Gehörschutz (Kapselgehörschutz oder Ohrstöpsel) zu Hause hast, gern mitbringen.

Informationen zum Projekt:
Im Rahmen des Artist-in-Residence-Programms Tiny Spaces Deep Connections des Inwole e. V. und des Projekthauses Potsdam sind im Juli die beiden internationalen Künstlerinnen Emma Aarflot (Schweden) und Eleni Charcharidou (Griechenland) zu Gast. In ihrer Residenz erforschen sie das kreative Potenzial des Reisens sowie das Leben und Arbeiten in mobilen, kleinen Räumen – insbesondere in Verbindung mit der Bahn. Auf ihren bewussten Zugreisen von Malmö und Thessaloniki nach Potsdam begannen sie, mit künstlerischen Methoden unterwegs zu arbeiten – in Zügen, an Bahnhöfen und in Zwischenräumen. Emma Aarflot arbeitet mit Metall und Klang, während Eleni Charcharidou, Architektin und Künstlerin, ihren Fokus auf partizipative Prozesse und gemeinschaftsorientiertes Gestalten legt.

Make It Yours – Learn to Weld and Build Something You’ll Use
in this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the basics of metalworking—specifically TIG welding, using a Flex (angle grinder), and how to bend and shape steel by hand. We’ll work with recycled scrap metal to create a small, functional object you can use in your daily life—like a ring or clip designed to help you carry things easily. Think of it as a personalized tool you can attach to your belt, bag, or backpack to hold keys, tools, or other items on the go. By the end of the session, each participant will have made their own unique, useful piece—while gaining practical skills in working with metal. No prior experience needed—just curiosity and a willingness to try something new!
The workshop will be held in English.

Photo, Video, and Audio Recordings
During the workshop, photos will be taken for project documentation. We need good pictures showing our activities for the documentation, especially for our funding institutions. This will help us to be able to offer further projects in the future. We can clarify on site what kind of pictures would be possible.
Clothing & Valuables
Wear protective and work clothing!
We recommend wearing sturdy shoes.
We recommend wearing polyester-free, ideally 100% robust cotton clothing.
Participants who wear highly flammable clothing, especially clothing made of synthetic fibers, will not be able to take part in the workshop!
If you have ear protection (ear muffs or earplugs) at home, please bring them with you.

Information on the project:
As part of the Artist-in-Residence program "Tiny Spaces Deep Connections" by Inwole e.V. and Projekthaus Potsdam, two international artists, Emma Aarflot (Sweden) and Eleni Charcharidou (Greece), are visiting in July. During their residency, they explore the creative potential of traveling as well as living and working in mobile, small spaces – particularly in connection with trains. On their conscious train journeys from Malmö and Thessaloniki to Potsdam, they began working with artistic methods while on the move – in trains, at train stations, and in transitional spaces. Emma Aarflot works with metal and sound, while Eleni Charcharidou, an architect and artist, focuses on participatory processes and community-oriented design.
